1. breakfast

×What time do you usually have the breakfast?

√What time do you usually have breakfast?

(你通常几点吃早餐？)

三餐（breakfast, lunch, dinner）指“事件”时，其前面不加a/the/this/my。但指“内容”时，则在其前面可加a/the/this/my，如：It’s an American breakfast.（这是美式的早餐。）

2. blind

×Suddenly the TV screen went blind.

√Suddenly the TV screen went blank.

(电视屏幕上的画面突然不见了。)

go blind是指“某人因疾病或意外导致眼睛瞎了”，如：The accident made him go blind in one eye.（那事故使他瞎了一只眼。）指（电视等）的画面突然消失，用go blank，即“一片空白”之意。

3. born

×I was born in a single-parent family.

√I was born into a single-parent family.

(我出生在一个单亲家庭。)

be born in+地方/年代，如：My younger sister was born in Tokyo in 1980.（我妹妹1980年在东京出生。）be born into+特殊的家庭。

4. blue

×Whenever you feel the blue, try singing a song.

√Whenever you feel blue/get the blues, try singing a song.

(每当你感到忧郁时，试着唱首歌吧。)

“感到忧郁”的正确说法是feel blue或get the blues.

5. broke

×Now I’m completely broken. Could you lend me some money?

√Now I’m completely broke. Could you lend me some money?

(我现在可是身无分文。能借点钱给我吗？

broken是“破碎的”意思，如：Be careful not to step on the broken glass!（小心不要踩到碎玻璃！）broke是指个人“身无分文”或公司“破产”。

6. blame

×Martha and I got divorced, and she blamed on me.

√Martha and I got divorced, and she blamed it on me.

√Martha and I got divorced, and she blamed me for it.

(玛莎同我离婚，并把这事儿归罪于我。)

blame sth. on sb. =blame sb. For sth,即“将某事归罪于某人”，是固定用法。

I wonder who is to be blamed for these ridiculous mistakes.

I wonder who is to blame for these ridiculous mistakes.

(不知道谁该对这些荒唐的事件负责。)

be to blame (for sth.)是指“某人该（为某事）负责”，为习惯用法。

7. bound

×The train is bound to Shanghai.

√The train is bound for Shanghai.

(这班火车开往上海。)

be bound to+ V=be certain to+ V，是“一定…”的意思，如：Your teacher is bound to find out about it.（你的老师一定会发现的。）另外，be/feel bound to +V=be/feel obliged to +V,是“有义务…”的意思，如：I feel bound to tell her the truth.（我觉得有义务告诉她真相。）be bound for …“前往/开往。。”的意思。

It seems that a child’s curiosity knows no bounds. √

(小孩子的好奇心似乎没有止境。)

know no bounds（用复数）意为“没有止境/界限”，为固定用法。
